Zooey slipped into the book easily, smiling at the waiter in thanks as she took the menu from his hands. There were a couple of tourists that were gawking at her and Emily, and she could hear the quiet murmurs of 'Is that the woman who plays Bones?' and the 'Isn't the dark haired one a singer?', and Zooey smiled to herself. It was nice that after living here long enough, most of the locals tended to turn a blind eye towards her and her sister, used to spotting celebrities out and about. But there was always a couple of tourists who seemed to always be shocked. But really, it was LA...what more could you expect?
She offered a small wave to the family closest to her, grinning when the little kid with them smiled widely and waved back enthusiastically. He was cute, she decided, wiggling her fingers at the little boy before looking over the menu in her hands. She had come here more times than she could count, and knew the menu almost as well as she new the back of her hand, but she always ordered the same thing. Ben had teased her for it countless times, along with Joseph when she'd come with him the last couple of weeks that they had spend wrapping up 500 Days of Summer, and she was determined to try something new this time around.
Her eyes swept over the menu, but nothing seemed to jump out at her. She lowered the plastic encased paper to look at her sister over the top of it, asking, "What are you getting, Em?" If she knew what Emily was getting, then that would take one thing of her list...she could probably steal a bit of the older woman's food, so she could order anything else. If she could decide what to get, that is.

OH MY LOVE, WON'T YOU STOP YOUR CRYING? THE SUNLIGHT'S BRINGING RAINBOWS TO YOUR TEARS. Emily took her own menu in her hand, sending a soft 'thank you' to the waiter before he headed on his way. She wasn't even aware of the tourists who were whispering excitedly in their direction. Instead, she had the menu flipped open in less than a heartbeat, studying the choices carefully. This had always been one of Emily's favorite restaurants; they had a lovely selection of vegan foods as well as regular foods to choose from, something she looked for in every restaurant she went to with or without an eating companion.
No, the auburn-haired actress didn't even realize the family was in the same room - until her raven-haired sister gave a friendly wave. The wiggling of her younger sibling's fingers caught the attention of her silver-platinum irises, which then followed to locate the source. There was indeed a small family close to them, and a small child waving excitedly at Zooey. A grin and a small laugh escaped Emily's lips at the kid's enthusiasm as she allowed a little wave of her own.
"What are you getting, Em?"
Emily's eyes swept across the menu one more time before landing on her final decision. "Hm. I think I'll have the hummus." The actress loved the food, but she hadn't had any in quite some time for whatever reasons. Life just set them apart.
"What about you?" Emily inquired, lifting her gaze to meet her sister's.

Zooey smiled widely at the little boy before making a playful silly face. It caused the little kid to giggle, and she caught Emily's little wave of her own from the corner or her eye. Turning her head slightly towards her sister, the raven haired woman grinned before turning back towards the little kid once more. Kids weren't quite her thing, even though she loved them, but this one seemed completely engrossed in her. Maybe her hair had caught his attention, but whatever it was, she played along for a few minutes. She even pulled a lock of hair over her upper lip and pursed them to make a fake mustache.
Once the mother had noticed her son was almost turned around in his seat, she sat him down straight and sent an apologetic smile towards Zooey. Shrugging once to show that she didn't mind at all, she turned back towards her menu and her dilemma as to what to order. Emily's voice caught her attention, and she looked up while pursing her lips slightly once more. The hummus was definitely good at this place, and she knew the portions tended to be rather large sometimes. And if they restaurant wasn't too busy, they'd probably get some pita bread to go with her.
Her bright blue eyes scanned the menu front to back once more, skipping over the hummus as she thought through the options. All of the food here was truly delicious, but she wasn't really in the mood for anything meat. Which certainly narrowed down her options, at least. Finally landing on an item that caught her attention, Zooey looked up with a large smile as she closed the menu. "I think I'm going to have the Greek salad," she said, decision strong in her voice. If she didn't said it like she'd made her final decision, she'd probably look back over the menu once or twice right before the waiter came by at the last minute.
Sometimes Zooey could be terribly indecisive, and she knew she'd take forever to decide if she didn't put the menu down now. So she closed it and set it down next to her, placing her elbow on top for good measure. She looked across the table at Emily, smiling at her older sister. "How's the show going?" she asked, taking a sip of the water that had been placed in front of her when she sat down.

OH MY LOVE, WON'T YOU STOP YOUR CRYING? THE SUNLIGHT'S BRINGING RAINBOWS TO YOUR TEARS. ((If this post doesn't answer your question, I'm doing the pregnant thing! xD))
Emily couldn't help the little grin that crept up on her as Zooey played along with the child, giving herself a less-than-believable fake mustache. Though she figured it was normal for a pregnancy and the moodswings were speaking for her, she was worried about how good of a mother she would be. She had her job, and that meant a lot of travel, and what kind of environment would that be for her child to grow up in? Of course she'd planned the pregnancy long before she'd gotten married, but there were little things such as travel she hadn't thought about.
She shot a polite smile at the mother of the child excited about her little sister, simply to show that she wasn't ignoring the woman's existence.
The pursing of her sister's lips indicated to her that she was indecisive. She'd always been the indecisive one, but that was just one of the many things she'd grown to love about the young singer. Emily leaned back in her seat comfortably, resting her head casually into one of her hands.
"Good choice," Emily approved. The Greek salad here was great; she'd had that quite a few times on her many trips here as well.
Emily had always been quite the girl who ordered the same thing every time depending on the restaurant. There were quite a few who only had a small selection of good foods, but she'd always have one she liked the best and stuck to it. This restaurant, however, was simply amazing.
"It's going great," Emily answered honestly, giving her sister a smile. There was really never any problems among her Bones family, though her and David were practically opposites. The two worked together with some sort of otherwordly magnetism, though, and they were very upfront with each other. If either one of them were having an off day, the opposite would know about it.

Without the little kid to entertain anymore, Zooey drummed her fingers over the table top, occasionally tapping out a beat to one of the She & Him songs, humming along under her breath. Or sometimes she'd even deviate from the original music and tap out a new beat. She should get back into writing soon. After all, song writing had always been a passion of hers, along with singing and playing music. But now that their second tour to promote Volume Two was over, the raven haired woman had a chance to take a bit of a break from everything and just relax for a bit.
New Girl had a few more episodes to finish filming for the season, however, but after that she'd be able to take some time to relax. She was excited about the new show, it would be different that what she had ever done. Not only was it a television series, but she played the main character. And it was fun and quirky - just like her. A perfect match, really. She was brought out of her thoughts by Emily's voice, and looked up. Zooey smiled brightly across the table at her older sister, because even though they were both in their early thirties, Emily's approval meant a lot to her still. Not necessarily approval over what her food choice would be, but other things of more important matter.
The waiter came by a few minutes later, and she gladly ordered her salad, smiling as she handed over the menu and waited for Emily to order as well. Once the waiter had gone on his way with their menus in hand, she looked back over at her sister and gave her another wide smile. While Emily was always one who looked beautiful, the pregnancy hormones made her look radiant. Her skin had an almost glowing tone to it, and her eyes looked so much brighter than usual. All in all, pregnant was a good look on her sister, and Zo had to admit that she was ecstatic to become an aunt when the time came.
"That's great," Zooey replied sincerely with a smile, tucking a lock of dark hair behind her ear. She loved her sister's show, especially the cast. The all seemed to get along so well, and she had to admit there were times where she was a bit envious. But that's one of the things she hoped to gain with the cast of New Girl, and things seemed to be heading that way already. "Any spoilers you can tell your lovely sister about?" she teased, though she was actually quite curious. Her sister was pretty tight lipped about those kinds of things, though, so she would be quite surprised if she could get Em to give in and tell her something.

OH MY LOVE, WON'T YOU STOP YOUR CRYING? THE SUNLIGHT'S BRINGING RAINBOWS TO YOUR TEARS. Emily listened to the sound of her sister's humming, finding it relaxing in a way. Though Emily had sung a few times on Bones, she'd never liked her own voice. She found Zooey's voice much more appealing to listen to; even her speaking voice was beautiful. It was very deep for a woman, but that was what was so unique about it. All the She & Him songs were all over Emily's iPod, which she'd finally decided to buy after months of contemplating. She wasn't fit for the electronic age; the only time she ever used a computer was to research for her job and for vegan or environmentally friendly items.
She caught her sister's bright smile and found it infectious, which made it fairly easy to return. She was just as excited about her sister's career as she was her own, and was incredibly proud and wanted to see where it would lead for her. Her eyes turned to the waiter as he took their menus. She'd repeated the hummus order from earlier to the waiter before he turned tail and walked away, leaving her and her sister to themselves.
“That's great.”
The smile widened on Emily's lips. Her sister truly cared about Emily's career, and she was grateful for that. It would've been hard for her having to go through life with a selfish, self-contained younger sister, but lucky for her, Zooey was nothing of the sort.
“Hm,”
Emily started, pretending to tap her chin thoughtfully. “Well...the kid's a girl.” She wasn't sure about her own child's gender just yet, but for the show, it had already been determined that Dr. Temperance Brennan's and Special Agent Seeley Booth's child would be female. A perfect match for TJ and Michaela's characters, Hodgins and Angela, which had been born in the season finale a perfect male. “What about you? How's the new show coming? It looks absolutely hilarious.” Emily grinned as she thought about the trailers. Glancing over at Emily, Zooey grinned. She normally didn't think about it, but her older sister had once told her that her singing was relaxing, and the raven haired woman had to wonder if that's how it was in this situation. She had always been incredibly proud of her voice, especially since her speaking one was rather deep for a woman. After a couple years of being self conscious about it, she had learned to accept it, and use it work her advantage. Most directors and actors that she had worked with had been incredibly intrigued by the sound of it, and sometimes she thought it might have even gotten her a couple of roles for certain characters. But her singing voice, that was different. It was higher than her speaking voice, and it suited the type of music she had always loved and wanted to perform beautifully. M.Ward had told her on more than one occasion that her voice was perfect for vintage, indie inspired songs, like the ones they wrote.
If at all possible, Zooey's smile grew even wider as she caught Emily's own smile. She truly loved the woman in front of her; Emily was the best sister she could ask for, and even though they had fought as children a couple of times (of course. What kids didn't?) she couldn't imagine not having her as an older sister. While she may not say it a whole lot, Emily inspired her in more ways than she could count. Seeing her sister tap her chin thoughtfully, Zooey rolled her eyes even though the smile was still in place. Emily had a flare for dramatics from time to time, and she was pretty sure this was one of them. She was hoping to prolong the suspense she was feeling, and Zooey would have started to feel slightly annoyed if she didn’t love it as much as she did. She let out a tiny sound that could (embarrassingly) easily pass for a squeal and clapped her hands together as the words tumbled from Emily's lips. She had always been a fan of Bones since the show had started (she had originally only started watching it because Emily played one of the main characters) but over the next couple of years and seasons since the pilot first aired, Zooey found herself tuning in every week for a new episode, and watching reruns of old ones when the season had finished for the year. "That's wonderful!" Zooey grinned, glancing down at her sister's stomach. It was habit, really, even though she knew that they didn't know whether Emily would give her a niece or nephew yet.
Zooey took a sip of her water before replying, a grin coming across her face once more. Her newest show, New Girl, was different than anything she had done before. Not only was it a series in which she played the main character, but it was also a comedy. She had experience in a few other comedies, but nothing like this. "It's coming along great. We only have a few more episodes to wrap up for the first half of the season, and I've had a chance to hang out with the rest of the cast more. They're all absolutely hilarious, I can tell already it's going to be so much fun working with them." she replied, pausing for a bit as the waiter came by and dropped off their food. Smiling in thanks, Zooey reached over and took her fork in hand, getting some of her salad onto the teeth before taking a bite. "I'm quite excited," she continued, glancing over at Emily. "It'll be something new, and all."
