general appearance: Zooey is best described as quirky, and sometimes cute. She has a sweet smile with bright blue eyes that sometimes tend to be hidden behind heavy blunt bangs that fall down to her eyebrows. Her skin is a light peachy colour with hints of rosy undertones, and smooth, free of blemishes. Her personality can be seen shining through her features a lot, and she's normally always got a smile on her face.
She doesn't take her clothing style too seriously, instead preferring to wear clothes that are comfortable from a day to day basis. If there's an event that she needs to attend and look good at, she'll put effort into her style, but otherwise she's content enough to simply head out the door in a cute vintage dress. Once she even was at a television interview in a pink dress, heels and her hair looking like she'd just rolled out of bed.

personality: Zooey is a sweetheart. She's the youngest out of two, but that doesn't mean she was spoiled growing up. Sure, her parents dotted on her when she was younger, but with only a couple of year between her and Emily, Zo was always quite anxious to get past the little being a baby stage and do the things that Emily did. The way she describes herself is as an old fashioned gal because of her love for screwball movies and vintage clothes, but she's also a quirky type of girl.
She doesn't take herself too seriously, and can easily laugh at herself, which is something that has helped her land comedy rolls for her movies and such. But she can also be quite a serious girl when she wants to be. Music and acting are her two passions, and when she sets her mind to something, she holds on tight with both hands and doesn't let go till she has it.

history: Zooey Claire Deschanel is the second and last child of Mary Jo and Caleb Deschanel. She's a couple of years younger than her older sister Emily, but quite close. She was born in Los Angeles California, and since she was little, has had an interest in film making thanks to her father.
Zooey first appeared as a guest star on the television show Veronica's Closet before making a film debut in Mumford in 1999. Later that year she appeared in the music video for She's Got Issues by The Offspring. Her second role was in the movie Almost Famous; it wasn't a box office success, but it was a start to her career.
Zooey had many supporting roles in movies such as The Good Girl, Big Trouble, Abandon among some, and was called "one of Hollywood's most sought-after young stars," by The New York Times. Her first lead role was Noel in All The Real Girls, a role that one her an Independent Spirit nomination for Best Actress award.
Since then Zooey has appeared in movies such as Elf, 500 Days of Summer, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, and had some television rolls such as D.G. in Tin Man, along with a character for a brief time in Weeds and even making an appearance on Bones as Temperance Brennan's cousin. Now, she's getting ready for the launch of her newest project, which is called New Girl, airing on FOX in the fall.
Music being one of her biggest passions as well, she teamed up with M. Ward to create She & Him, where Zooey is the lead vocalist. The duo have released two albums, and done a couple of tours around the US, promoting them.
